Valentine Mailboxes

This past weekend we began a mini kitchen renovation.  I painted and aged our cabinets in the Fall of 2011.  You can read about it here.  Ever since I have been wanting to change the back splash and paint the walls.  Talk about procrastinating.  Here it is 1-1/2 years later and we're finally doing it.

This post isn't about our kitchen.  I just wanted to let you know what I've been doing for the last four days.  It isn't completed.  But more about that later.  I'm going to keep you in suspense for just a little while longer.

I found these brass candlestick holders at the Salvation Army last year.  I don't remember how much I paid for them, but I think it was something like sixty nine cents each.

As you can see they were covered in wax drippings.  To remove that I just dipped them in boiling water and it melted right off.

I painted them using some leftover homemade chalk paint.

I found some metal mailboxes in the Dollar Spot at Target.  I didn't want to attach them permanently so I used some Tacky adhesive.

You could take it one step further and decorate the mailboxes using stickers.  I chose to go simple.

There you go.  Quick, easy and thrifty.

I'm sharing:

  2. Those are so fun! It would be cool to make them and leave little notes for the hubs or kiddos. ;)
