Summer Flowers

We made it back home from Virginia Beach Sunday evening.  I spent Monday unpacking and doing laundry.  I will spend the rest of the week getting ready to leave Friday for a week of camping.  Since I haven't had any time for crafting I decided to show you some of the flowers around my yard.

Window boxes on our deck.  We have four of them.

Impatiens in my shade garden.

I got this little guy at a garage sale for $2.

We divided these hostas last year and they have grown a lot!

The deer kept eating these until I started spraying them.

I planted these hollyhocks last year from seed.  I couldn't believe how big they grew.  They are about 6 feet tall!  Unbelievable!

That's all I have time for right now.  Hope you enjoyed a peek at my flowers.  Wish the photos were better, but I took them just before dusk.  Don't know what I was thinking.

Virginia Beach Vacation Wind Down

Our vacation is beginning to wind down.  Only two more beach days before we head home on Sunday.  :(

Virginia Beach

We arrived Sunday around 5:00 p.m.  Yesterday we spent the day on the beach, which is what we plan on doing every day.  Love spending time on the beach with a good book.

This morning I was up at 6:00 a.m. and took these pictures from our balcony.  I never get tired of this view.

Today it is supposed to be 99 degrees.  Off to the beach!

Virginia Beach Bound

Well, we are on our way to our time share in Virginia Beach.  We left yesterday morning around 10:00 a.m., arrived at our hotel for the night in Carneys Point, NJ around 5:30 p.m.  We had lunch yesterday at Sonic.

After that made a quick stop at Starbuck's for my seasonal favorite mocha coconut frappuccino.  I'm not a coffee drinker, but love this treat!

Dinner last night was at Buffalo Wild Wings, another favorite place.  Deep fried dill pickles, fries, chicken wings and a Coors Light.  Nothing better after a long day of driving riding.

Just had breakfast so we will be leaving shortly.  Should be in Va. Beach by dinner time, if not sooner.  See how happy we are.

Kitchen Art

I must confess this is not an original idea.  I first saw it on House of Hepworths "hoh" blog.  Click here to see Allison's sister, Lindsey's version.  It was just so darn cute I had to steal borrow the idea.

I bought three 8-1/2 x 11 unfinished frames at Dollar Tree.

After I removed the glass I spray painted them white.  Spray paint and I have become very good friends lately.

I cut some green cardstock 8-1/2 x 11.  The cardstock was 12 x 12.  I already had this in my scrapbooking stash.  Then I used my Cricut cartridge "From My Kitchen" to cut images out of white cardstock.  I had to play around with it a little bit to get the desired sizes.

I just attached the images to the green cardstock using my scrapbook adhesive. Then put them in the frames.

Now they proudly hang in our dining area over the Hoosier.

Quickie Thrifty Craft

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend.  We had a great time camping.  Couldn't have asked for better weather.  Didn't want to come home, but in just 4 short days we will be leaving for Virginia Beach.  We have a time share down there so we go every year.  Can't wait.  Nothing to do but lay on the beach and read.

I have a quick craft to share with you today.  I found these photo holders in the dollar bin at Michael's.  They always have such cool things.

Cute, huh?  Unfortunately I really didn't want or need photo holders and needless to say the pink and orange really didn't fit into my color scheme.  Perfect for a teen's room though, which is what I'm pretty sure they were intended for.

I pulled out the wire holder.  So simple.  Hardly had to pull at all.  Then I used some white craft paint that I had on hand to use as a primer then chose sage green for the final color.   Fits my color scheme.

That's it.  So simple and quick.  That's the way I like 'em.  Total cost $2.00 'cause I already had the paint.
