Thrifty Decor Chick Inspired Stairway

Ever since I saw how Sarah from Thrifty Decor Chick decorated her staircase I knew that was what I wanted to do to mine.  Yes, I am a copy cat.  When I see a great idea that I instantly fall in love with I'm not happy until I incorporate it into my own home.  As the saying goes, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".  Our stairway heading down to the family room was white and boring.  Something had to be done to it. To see Sarah's stairway click here.  Here is mine:

Here is how I got to that point.  First I bought my frames at Michael's for $4 each, on sale of course.  Beautiful black frames with white mats.  I used frames that hold 8x10 and 5x7 photos.  I traced the frames onto brown paper that was used for shipping material that I had saved.  I cut them out and taped them to the wall to figure out my layout.

I used my Cricut and the following cartridges, Storybook, George Basic and Doodle Type to cut the quote
from black vinyl.  Oh.............before I did that I used scrap paper to get the size right and used a temporary adhesive to stick to the wall.  Since I used white scrap paper (what was I thinking), it's hard to see in the photo.

My wonderful husband had to rig self made scaffolding and then hung the frames that I couldn't reach from the stairs.  I was busy standing on the other end so didn't get any pictures of this.

Just have to show it one more time...............................

I used baby photos of my own children and more recent photos of my grandchildren.  I think I need one more photo at the top left.  Thanks for stopping by.
